The Ice Age Trail is a long distance trail that winds through Wisconsin.
When completed, it will be 1,000 miles of continuous trail. Right now it is
still in segments. Map
Description
The Ice Age trail shows off Wisconsin's glacial landscape. It goes through
moraines, kettle drums, etc. The part I hiked (in Langlade County) had nice scenery and was very wilderness-like.
But, there wasn't much of a trail. Some of it was logging roads and snowmobile trails. The rest of
the time we simply bushwacked through heavy forest (lots of prickers!) and followed yellow paint on the trees.
There also turned out to be no campsite, so we ended up camping on a logging road with no water nearby.
But the the scenery was nice and there were some nice views. However, I wouldn't hike that segment again.
